From a young age I’ve been interested in house design and what makes a home look good. In fact, at one time I wanted to be an architect. Now, all these years later, here I am having the time of my life. Working alongside architects, builders and home owners, I get a real buzz out of helping people create their dream home, or at least part of it.
I haven’t always been in the aluminium joinery business though.
After my first job in draughting, I went to Europe like most of us, and ended up in the finance industry which I continued when I came back to NZ.
This gave me a good grounding in the financials and good business practice which stand me, and you, in good stead today. Because I can use that experience to run a strong, financially sound business that’s here for the long-term. We’ve invested heavily in the best production equipment and top quality aluminium extrusions so we produce wonderful doors and windows. None of that could be possible without my fantastic team of 26 people who share my enthusiasm for our products and customers.
Of course my bigger passion are my children and my husband. We enjoy boating, fishing and spending time at the beach or Summer BBQ’s with friends. Even though I’m a sound believer in technology taking us forward, I still enjoy the old Kiwi tradition of baking and send my boys off to school with home made food.
When I’m asked to sum up my views on life, I have two sayings I turn to.
First, because I’ve seen it so many times and I believe in karma,
“What goes around comes around."
The other is “If we do what we have always done then we will get what we have always got.”
Whilst change can be scary, I enjoy the challenge of achieving more every day.
Bruce Johnston is our Operations Manager. Bruce covers all aspects of Windowmakers applications and as such is a “hands on” and versatile administrator.
Bruce brings a wealth of experience to this role as his background has been in both management and practical fields.
In his years with Windowmakers, he has learnt the Aluminium Industry “from the bottom up” and as such is probably our most versatile team member.
Bruce is committed father of four children, and can be found off site supporting and encouraging the growth and development of these children. Family time is special time and (usually) rewarding!
