Windowmakers creates giant extension
Date: 27 February 2015
Windowmakers is pleased to announce the opening of its new factory, which is in a huge space literally two minutes away from the current head office at Forge Road, Silverdale. The new premises have been running since the beginning of February and have been set up to help create more capacity for producing residential joinery.
Managing director Heidi Johnston said, “The Auckland building sector continues to grow as more people want to move closer to the city. Whilst this is great news for the construction industry, our building clients are struggling with increasing lead times for joinery, which means they are falling behind with project schedules. By opening the new factory we hope to increase Windowmakers overall capacity and offer our customers a 2 week lead time rather than the 5-6 week time they are experiencing with other suppliers.”
The epitome of lean manufacturing, the factory is operated by four Windowmakers production staff and demonstrates the company’s on-going service commitment to clients. The new operation is headed up by Jonny Bradley who has worked for the company for over 13 years. His production knowledge is second to none and he also has experience with after sales call-outs working closely with builders. Jonny is an innovative, highly skilled aluminium joiner, and has excellent mentoring skills when it comes to training up the next generation of joiners.
