Windowmakers is proud of the work it has done on this stunning cliff top home at Murray’s Bay, on Auckland’s North Shore.
Architect John Cornthwaite’s modernist design incorporates amazing features such as a fully enclosed lap pool accessed from the upstairs living area, and a tiled deck with views out to the far reaches of the Hauraki Gulf.
About 75 per cent of the external walls of the home are glass. Working with a cliff top section in a high wind zone with exposure to salt air which can cause corrosion with an inferior product, John chose to specify a range of Windowmakers joinery suites, including Architectural Series, Metro Series and commercial.
We ensured the Architectural Series three-track sliding door system provided a seamless entry from the lounge to the pool. Another special feature in the home is a series of small windows at ceiling level which are automated on rain sensors.
The home is a brilliant example of how joinery can enhance a home and provide a modern, stylish lifestyle for some very lucky owners.
“It’s very important that we can specify a well-manufactured product that we know is going to perform to its design requirements. Windowmakers take care with the manufacture of windows to ensure their product will perform. This is then followed through with good project management during installation on site. Windowmakers’ Design Centre is very detailed, with good examples of the various window systems available giving my clients an understanding of their products. They can slide the doors, try the hardware, and appreciate the different types of profiles we have to specify to meet building code requirements.” John Cornthwaite, Architect.
