The spectacular home is located in Takapuna's Lake Pupuke and embodies a contemporary, modern Hollywood architectural design by Chris Tate Architecture and built by Team Builders Ltd.
The house's design first draws attention to the impressive and unique slattered screen that encases the top level of the home that Chris explains, serves in both functionality and aesthetic — "providing the family with privacy and adding an element of drama to the overall scheme".
The design of the home used a courtyard, compound-style, and included an inward-facing experience for the family. To bring light and radiance into the home — large amounts of glazing were incorporated from our APL Architectural suite of aluminium joinery.
Glazing included a 'full-height, fully glazed entry' that encloses the staircase which "serves as a dramatic keynote upon arrival". Similar glazing was used on the upper-level master bedroom to provide homeowners with a balcony that gives direct access to the outdoor area.
Further glazing throughout the home involved full, dramatic sliding doors on either side of the 'open-plan living area' — indoor-outdoor living incorporated at its finest, with one of the sliding doors cutting through the bench to create an element of seamless continuation from the inside to outside.
