One of the most rewarding things about the work we do is the relationships we build along the way.

Alongside The House Company, we have been creating stunning homes across Auckland and Northland, and this latest one in Tramcar Bay, is no different.

A deserving winner in the Registered Master Builders House of the Year 2023 competition, this house was honored as the Regional Category Winner. It also received a Gold Award and claimed the National Category Award in the New Home $1-$1.5 Million category. Additionally, it secured a spot among the Top 100 homes of 2023 across Aotearoa.

Cathedral Ceilings, Remuera

A stunning design that provides both sanctuary and light, a new-build family home that has been skilfully designed to entail a spine-like passage, courtyards, and slipping pavilions.

The charming Remuera new build was designed by RTA Studio and built by the team at Ninety45— and deservingly, received the 2021 NZIA Auckland Architecture Award (Housing Category).

The story of the home and its design and construction begins with the site. The family brought the Remuera site, undecided upon what they would be doing with the house originally located on the site. When it was decided the original house was to be demolished, design and construction were underway. The design and plan of the new build involved a series of spilt levels that incorporates interconnected pavilions, whereby the space in between is craftily used as sun-capturing courtyards— setting the benchmark for planning homes around the peculiarities of suburban Auckland sections.

Perhaps one of the most striking elements of the home's style and design is the contrasting black-and-white colour scheme with jarring board and batten cladding, connected by a timber-lined corridor. Playful complementing is incorporated throughout the home, including our Metro Series aluminium joinery range in Matt Black that gives clean lines and flush sills for a pared-back look. Other notes include the precision of the concealed garage door, the bifold shutter that hermetically seals the house, and ingenious pool fencing.

The Lake House, Auckland

"Set on an open, corner site, the brief for this home was to create a family haven with maximum privacy and street presence." — Chris Tate

The spectacular home is located in Takapuna's Lake Pupuke and embodies a contemporary, modern Hollywood architectural design by Chris Tate Architecture and built by Team Builders Ltd.

The house's design first draws attention to the impressive and unique slattered screen that encases the top level of the home that Chris explains, serves in both functionality and aesthetic — "providing the family with privacy and adding an element of drama to the overall scheme".

The design of the home used a courtyard, compound-style, and included an inward-facing experience for the family. To bring light and radiance into the home — large amounts of glazing were incorporated from our APL Architectural suite of aluminium joinery.

Mahuika, Waiheke Island

A home that magically captures the essence of native Aotearoa, located at Cowes Bay, southeast of Waiheke Island. The impressive site encaptures the coastline, native bush, and nearby stream— which all remained a focal point throughout the entirety of the home's design.

The home's completion dates back to 2020, designed by the team at Daniel Marshall Architects and built by Lindesay Construction. A key desire of the client— who was a New Zealand family based aboard, was to design and create a holiday home that "forms a connection back to their native Aotearoa," says architect, Daniel Marshall.

The location itself is the perfect encompass of Aotearoa— Cowes Bay has remained a desired Waiheke Island destination among visitors since the 1800s. A villa was constructed on the new homes site in the early 1900s— this, alongside much native bush, had diminished due to colonisation of the late 1900s.
