This beautiful house nestled on a ridge alongside the Hauraki Gulf is one of the most spectacular houses on the Hibiscus Coast. Attention to detail, quality craftsmanship and use of cutting-edge technology have been brought together to create an outstanding example of modern New Zealand architecture.
The pièce de résistance is the floor-to-ceiling windows and doors that allow visitors to the home to see the views from practically every room in the house. Constructed by local builders Coastbuild New Zealand, this ‘house of glass’ is futuristic in its design both inside and out, and boasts the very latest in technology and gadgetry.
Windows and doors: The majority of the joinery was manufactured using APL Architectural Series. A combination of both the 106mm and 158mm sections for the APL Architectural Series units was used. The entry door was manufactured in 100mm shop front extrusion to achieve pivot function, with electronic Cobalt used as locking mechanism. The panel for entry door was a Plasma core structure, clad in vertical timber weatherboards to blend seamlessly into the cladding system when closed. Curved window heads follow the roof line.
- Joinery finish: 25 Micron Frost Anodised finish.
- Glass: 6mm Comfortsafe double glazed glass throughout.
- Hardware: Icon Stainless Steel hardware with brushed finish.
Hardware: Icon is a fully integrated range of stainless steel hardware designed with contemporary square-edge aesthetics with rectilinear shapes and gently radiused grips for comfortable operation. Icon hardware items are made from 316-grade stainless steel which offers increased weathering performance. The product range includes window fasteners, lever handles, sliding door handles and flush pulls, and a handle suitable for use on internal doors.
